  • This condition is explained here. There is now a recommended treatment protocol, see BMJ. Basically:
  • prednisolone at 1mg/kg/day (<80mg) is recommended for the first week, tapered for the second.
  • Acyclovir (or equivalent antiviral) is recommenced at the zoster dose (or the simplex dose if there is no rash...but read the BMJ.)
